Besides, in South, Florida has earned top position and fallen at No.1 seed. Undefeated Wichita State is on top in the brutal Midwest, and Arizona took top billing in the West despite losing to UCLA in the Pac-12 final.

Athletic director of Wake Forest and Chairman of the selection committee Ron Wellman said that “In the Virginia’s twin ACC championships made the Cavaliers 1 seed over the Michigan and Villanova”. He further said that “Virginia’s outstanding performance throughout the year impressed us a lot and they have been quite well”.

On the other hand, Michigan could not get through Duke and happened to be at 2 to reach in regional finals. The top half of the bracket includes Louisville, Kentucky and Wichita State.
